TCC- CDE Terminate Contract
After almost twelve years of fulfilling the contractual terms, commitments
and uninterrupted services, on early September 2001, TCC decided to
terminate the existing Power Purchase Agreement signed on 1989 with,
all this process was handled in a friendly way and by mutual agreement.
Is important to mention that during that time TCC never shutdown their
plants due to lack of payment. TCC enters Spot Market as Merchant
At the same time, TCC applied with the Electric Superintendence (Superintendencia
de Electricidad) for the classification of both barges (Estrella del
Norte and Estrella del Mar) as merchant plants. This action is an
example of Seaboard's commitment to its market and to operate with
both barges as merchant plants. After the approval of this application
TCC is selling the power produced by its plants to the Spot market
and seeking opportunities to sell to the large users, keeping one
of the lowest and competitive rates in the electric sector. TCC and
the Non Regulated Users market:
TCC started selling power to CDH (Carrefour) delivered directly to
their
own 69kv Substation, contracted capacity: 2MW
